As far as my choices in colors go black is the quintessential color . There is no color which has more clarity than others. All my choices from clothes , to my blog the colors were of dark shades , as close to black as possible . Of course I don't want to imply I have a dark nature with bottomless pits of evil inside me . Black has a retro feel , black seems the perfect color to give the idea of nonchalance towards the world. And even now I love Black as color because darkness has always attracted me with the mysterious aura it has around me.
But recently I have been fiddling with many other colors shades which I would never had entertained before . Of course I haven't turned into Govinda (with pink and orange pants and all ) but I have been able to appreciate the beauty of other colors , be it the brightness of red , the deepness of blue , or sharpness of orange. they are all beautiful colors when it comes to clothes . Really foolish of me to not notice.
Colors are an form of expression and you cannot express everything with black however graceful and beautiful it may be/
And to that effect I want to add few colors to my blog to celebrate my new found love of colors other than black.

Nostalgia
There is no replacement for hostel life . Period . A life with job may be lucrative because one is financially independent but it lacks the distinct charm . Of course this is not a rant about any disappointment with the current life , on the contrary I feel very refreshed with this life of doing a job , enjoying doing work i love to do.
But as memorable as my school days were I do not have any major nostalgic feeling related to it.
But the life at KGP it seems will be etched permanently in my mind . I was going through G talk status message of one of my friend and it was "It has begun".Hopefully it is in reference to X-games ( cs tournament) that is currently going on.And that sparked all this chain of thought within my mind. I still vividly remember the fun we had at the X-games staying up late watching matches and then playing too . In fact playing cs was one thing that makes KGP life so eventful , not only because the game was so enchanting but because i played it amongst some wonderful friends. I still have recollections I received for killing 3 members of our opponent or clutching rounds and that still brings a zing in my heart. We waited for this for the whole long year , practicing , making strategies and more importantly doing something which made us happy. However "It has begun" could also be marked as a classic KGP status message be it for exams , be it for some tourney , be it for SF, or for placements .
Exams . Now that is some topic :) . But as harsh as they seemed at those time , now i realize those few days were nothing sort of classic . Studying things we never did the whole year , working out problems , staying way late in the night(to study that is) those are sorts of things we are never going to . And i never though i would say this but I do miss the classes . There were some thing so organized about them and some of our teachers made topics so damn interesting.
And there were series and movies.Something I had no experience of before KGP.Be it the wonderful movies which I watched for the first time or those that i repeated later , I realized that movies had an immense power over us . They made us embark on a journey which we never though possible and made us travel through an array of emotion.Of course I don't miss them even now , I still see all of them but I owe it to KGP which cultivated this wonderful habit.
In the end I miss my friends.I still make wonderful friends , but the friends I made in KGP will be the friends I will cherish for ever.I would love to make some recollection about them because they are the major source of the nostalgic feelings i keep having about KGP. From my depmates to wingies to all the Uddu friends and all cs players , each of them influenced me with their own magic.Those late night dinners in cheddis , or going to aunties for ice cream or going to Waldies to eat the same specific meals week after week , or watching pulp fiction and enjoying every bits of it , or playing carom in our wing's corridor, or waking each other up for early morning class, or going to Kolkata for applying to passport , or watching aoe from someone's back , or studying (rather sleeping) in the library WOW they were some remarkable times.
After all that is said and done i realize as it write this that the old days are gone and they won't be back again except through memories which are sharp now but will slowly will become vague in spite of my efforts to keep those wonderful times afresh. But then nothing is eternal , what begins must come to an end , and as a true optimist i keep looking ahead into the horizon , but then sometimes you have to look back and say Those were the days , the days of dream.

Recent Times
As always this blog is dedicated To Mr Parikshit Ram the person whose blog is one place i visit consistently for new topics(along with apro's) more or less because all their posts have a lot of freshness within them , they don't seem dictated.And yet again Parikshit's recent post was superb :) and so impressed was i that i decided what the heck let me write about the current events around me too.
Boozing was a key event recently.Twice i succumbed to its charm once with disastrous results and once it was lots of fun.The first time was when i was out with my team with one of my teamie giving birthday treat.Man that was someday.I did not drink much but most of them were scotch and vodka and almost unadulterated.I think the combination was something that ticked strange things in my mind :) and so eventually with lot of events happening which did not make it a pleasant trip.Before i ramble about my 2nd boozing event let me digress a bit about my work I was doing for few days.
For the first time my PM decided to have a meeting with me.For the uninitiated PM supposedly is the highest hierarchy for a group of related projects in our company.He pointed out that there were some severe modification to be done in the code i wrote , they had changed the directory structure , they decided to introduce multiple threads , they decided to do transaction of the database in one go , and many more.It was utter amount of load and for two days it was incessant work.I did not even go out for my daily routine of playing table tennis or pool.Imagine that!!!! But nevertheless it was great fun and working on some major topics in programming was serious fun.
So that went till saturday when we were supposed to meet at satra's house for a get together for old time' sake.Imagine the fun when satra , deep , me , indra , nishant , pathak all come together.
As expected it was great fun as we kept on pestering satra on and on about his latest love interest . We also made potty call up from usa , called pushkal and prasoon and kept talking nonsense with them.Basically in one way or other the whole wing was there (as i mentioned in one of my post a bunch of moronic people who somehow were together).Amongst the major topic;s were satro,s interesting love affairs.And from that it floated to the huge success prasoon and deep have when it comes to that topic(not exactly love affairs though ).
Now that it comes to all that I must mention a secret.When it comes to girls Iam excruciatingly shy .But then may be thats what girls like about me :).And hence I feel really strange when people call me love guru or womanizer , coz iam neither :).
But then there were some more hilarious moments in the whole night.All things aside it was my first alomost niteout(slept at 4 i think) after kgp times .So it has really been a heck of a time these few days.

Movie bug
Watching movies....sitting in front of something for 2 hrs.Pretty boring if u had asked me 5 years ago.But then Kgp life is special .It teaches u a lot......and one major things i learn t was some movies r downright brilliant ...they r reflections and presentation of great ideas.And that inspires me write this blog...a description of my top 16 movies(16 coz of all the great movies these are which i can watch and watch again)..Of course there will be several movies in the same rank (was real confused :)) )
Rank 16 : Blade Runner - Always big fan of cinematography and presentation.Blade Runner excels in both.And it has that underlying theme of human future and his unsuccessful try to be god.That is indeed something to ponder about. Dialogs are deep ....and it even masks the over simplicity of plot ....but never mind its an amazing amazing movie
Rank 15 : Monty python and the Holy grail - Never knew comedy could be so fun.But this is one movie that incorporates all kinds of comedy and does it with scintillating brilliance from the absurd comedy to the sarcasm to all the underlying references of the society.It is a movie where I couldn't stop my laughter...
Rank 14 : Donnie Darko - No question about it .Its a masterpiece. Combining sci-fi with philosophy is no mean thing.And the acting is outstanding.Add to the fact the whole concept is itself so mind blowing.
Rank 13 : The seven Samurai : I'm no movie critic but i felt that this movie is a perfect one.It really teaches how to make a movie perfectly.Somehow as i watched the movie the silent swordsman among the seven became my favorite especially when he sacrifices his life.I haven't seen a movie with a better plot ..thats for sure..
rank 6 : Of course a big jump 13 to 6 ..That owing to the fact that there are several movies in the same slot each belonging to a different genre and i really could not decide...
Shaw shank Redemption : The movie is full of unquestionable win material and the catch phrase about hope is outstanding.That for was the highlight of the movie,human triumph over all odds is really what many people need when they r in despair and this movie depicts that handsomely.
To kill a mocking bird : Well concepts aside the innocence of the kids when the adults kept on babbling about the case was what makes me rate this movie so so high.It was an experience to watch this masterpiece.
Wild strawberries : Another of bergman's philosophical movie but this time with It dealt with the mystery called life.The sweetness of the movie really blew me away
Spirited Away : Really Miyazaki outshone himself with this masterpiece thats all i can say . So many brilliant themes are dealt in it but with so much simplicity that the movie made me watch all miyazaki movies.
Mononoke Hime : And that brought me to this one.Somehow i can never forget the music and cinematography .It is really outstanding.
And then the salutation to Kubric
2001 a space oddesey : Really what a movie .... The whole philosophy behind it is outstanding .The deep hidden meaning for each and every scene .My god the movie blew me away.
A clock work Orange : Wow one of my favorite topics...Evil ...This movie goes in depth of what is evil And it really answered some brilliant questions.

Sin City - Its as if God made this movie.The movie is another name for brilliance if u ask me :)
the narration was actually a high factor for it being so good ...but the acting , the dialogue the cinematography ....It was really a treat to watch this marvelous movie
Pulp Fiction - I would say this is a movie that added a new genre of movies that i could watch..And that is Pulp Fiction genre :).It was so so amazing
Good Bad And ugly : Ohh the music and the final scene it self is good enough to take this movies to spot number 2 as far as iam concerned.The whole beauty of the movie is its simplicity of plot and yet the story keeping us rivetted to the plot.And the acting ...By all means the three stars were outstanding.
Pan's Labyrinth : I heard this one got 20 mins ovation in cannes. But then it deserved it.Fantasy with reality Is some acheivement.But the theme was what made this movie special ....Innocence has a Power evil cannot imagine ...truely thats what the movie was all about...
RanK 1 : Anybody who knows me will easily guess this one . Its LOTR - lord of the rings...and i just included all three of them here :)...But really what a movie ...The whole thing kept me Stunned.And really it was genuinely saddening to know there would be no fourth part :)
And those are the movies that really touched me ....and inspired me .....this is really not a review ...but really a tribute to all the kgp times i spent watching these movies....(actually i was watching one eps of southpark - Imagination land part 3...where kyle says imaginary character like popeye harry potter make more impact on us that many real people...I think the same goes for movies ...and that is my inspiration for this blog :) )..

SOuThParKed!!!
It happened when i was fully into World of warcraft .
One fine morning with ice and bandy(i think ).
Ice : Arre tune woh southpark wala episode dekha hai??
me : no....whats that
Bandy : arre awesome series hai ....
Ice : series bahut gross hai sale bandy ...tere jaise log hi use like karte hain...par woh warcraft wala episode mast hai...
fair enough..every stupid series might have its own shining episode.So i decicded to give it a try especially as that episode was about WOW.
It started off with four kids playing WOW....one especially fat kid ..someone who loved giving direction ...always in the lead....he stood out with his characterization.And then the episode kept with the image Ice painted it was nicely funny and pointed out the weakness of WOW in such subtle humour.And it had its fair share of swear words...bas nice engh :).There were too many nice dialogues and stuff...too much episode.
And then it was over and almost ended all my association with SouthPark .:)
And then few months later inspired by my wingies idiocity and my own boredom i downloaded all seasons of it and started watching.
First Episode : Pilot : Cartman (fat ass /big bones /etc ) has some device stuck in his ass...and aliens wendy stan what not....seemed random episode but gud...But the fact remains it had all the elements all characters which would make a nice random series...
The season finale was outstanding and it hooked me for so many many seasons to come..
The point is even without the swear words(and kenny's recurrent deaths) sometimes the authors seemed too deep..they brought topics that were really engrossing.But mostly it were the characters who made the series so lively.
I mean u keep thinking can such a noobish town exist :0.
And How can a Cartman exist.No adjective seemingly fully qualified him.But u got to love that hippy hating ,jew hating,self centred,fatass.
Butters , tweak,stan kyle,wendy , kenny , bebe , stan ,chef,Mr/Mrs/Miss/... garrison,Stan's dad.., token, timmy , jimmy , mr Mkay ..are really some swesome characters .
And finally like Cartman would say : Screw you guys Iam going home :)

My wing :)
Finally a topic i was always imagining i would write about :)
5 years in kgp for me = 6 different wings for me :)
Every wing had its own charm especially the one in MS was remarkable.
But this is about my wing - a special wing . Admirable , idiotic , sarcastic , funny all the kind of people you want and dont want in a wing . People constantly pestering you , making fun of you , disturbing you in all the odd moments.
But never mind that :).
My wing contained some strange aliens each from some different planet but somehow we had beautifully cohabitated in the strange planet of CTM Nehru hall . And each of them had their unique chemical and physical properties.
I would add that i dedicate this blog to parikshit whose wonderful blog about our dep inspired me to write this one.
Satra da was the most nonchalant guy ever ...no worries no load ....he had one load though .....it refers to a particular someone who everyone knows :P...but his discussions with me and others about so many interesting topics(ranging from spirituality to how to patao a bandi to god ) was very very interesting....really great time pass and fun time for others...but his ideas were so so out of the world ..:)
Next came jhaji whose room was the best maintained room ever ...even ants and spiders found the room very very enticing...it was room full of wonders...and its main inhabitant was as wonderful as his room ....his laziness was a constant source of inspiration for all of us mere mortals in the wing. Never mind that .....he was quite famous for the sms and calls he kept on receiving from his bundi ...now thats what u call a true stud ....jisko bandi phone karke pataye :)
the evil genius devil incarnate nishant ...however he always claimed he was the opposite ..he always tht he was the nicest guy ...but he never missed an oppurtunity to add his comment when something happened to someone ..... doesnt mattered if some one was with his bandi ...if he had to comment he will .... and that was the fun of being with him.
Deep .....*&&**& isko gaali dete dete koi nehin thakega....sharp in wit and tongue...but u wont ever be bored when u hear such crisp comments .and his trips to aus was filled with wonder ..his achievements were always source of inspiration for all of the mere mortal in our wing.
The sports man of the wing and the muscle man of the wing thakur i always saw him with his headphones laughing away at Friends episodes....later i came to know we had similar interest when it came to watching naruto :)...
And then Indraneel ..the5th weirdo..u cud always find him watching some series , playing aoe , not going /or going late to class...and especially during the end of final sem writing dvds :)....He was the thinker of the wing along with kundan and was so amazingly up to date about all the puzzles and algos....
And then as every one aptly says the juice of the wing ....the man who played a 1000 games :) the man who worked most hard on his projects ...the man who gave new defintions to arguments .Puskal singh .the player of the wing and it was thorougly enjoyable to play WOW wit him and kundan.
My apologies to kundan coz i just said prasoon was the most lazy in our wing.basically kundan defined two things - laziness and the true way to eat ...his gastronomic capalities has somewhat declined of late but yet he remains a formidable force when it comes to food...in fact the whole wing were like wolves when it came to food.But remakably his intelligence was directly proportional to his laziness which was proportional to his belly size. I hope he has already bought butterflies for his bellies( if u dont get this ask kundu).
admin no other introduction required.never banned or muted in dc for my final year ....coz i was admin's wingie....either by wing effect or his own nature he was as nonchalant and lazy as every one else...u cud see him spending infinite time on his compu never coming out unless he dislocated his shoulder.
gaay bapre daaru peeke koi agar truely sento kisiko dekha to yeh gaay hai...cenrtainly he had his own style and dunno who he kept chatting to all the time....
and vajpayee ji ..... didnt have many frequent chats wit him....more so abt the weather and all ...but how cud someone escape the wing effect :) ....he was as dedicated to class and all like the rest of us
and then the non wingies ..the intruders in our wing , people we saw more in our wing than theirs.
Pathak the 2nd of compu sc guy .... kept on calling me arre chirkut ..or may be called every other person by that name....kept on coming to our wing on some pretext ..sabko thoda thoda comment karke phir chala jaata tha ...isko jab dekho sota tha ..phior 3 ghanta ke baad uth jaata ..most remakable sleep habbits....and inspite of being so thin his eating habbit were quite formidable.
finally potty ram the man i dedicated this blog to ...some one wit a very warm but evilish personality...he never left and oppurtunity to pass a comment ...be it satra or me or any one else.....the only person who cud keep him in leashes was sweety..:P but this guy was an true all rounder be it sports acads or any other crap that u can imagine...
Thats about MY wing ...and wing that saw everything from CS , AOE, BRiDGE, CARROM , WOW to placements ..discussing puzzles together...teasting each other ..consistent waldies trips ...trips to GI for job trts ....a wing of unusual aliens who bonded together :)
5 years in kgp for me = 6 different wings for me :)
Every wing had its own charm especially the one in MS was remarkable.
But this is about my wing - a special wing . Admirable , idiotic , sarcastic , funny all the kind of people you want and dont want in a wing . People constantly pestering you , making fun of you , disturbing you in all the odd moments.
But never mind that :).
My wing contained some strange aliens each from some different planet but somehow we had beautifully cohabitated in the strange planet of CTM Nehru hall . And each of them had their unique chemical and physical properties.
I would add that i dedicate this blog to parikshit whose wonderful blog about our dep inspired me to write this one.
Satra da was the most nonchalant guy ever ...no worries no load ....he had one load though .....it refers to a particular someone who everyone knows :P...but his discussions with me and others about so many interesting topics(ranging from spirituality to how to patao a bandi to god ) was very very interesting....really great time pass and fun time for others...but his ideas were so so out of the world ..:)
Next came jhaji whose room was the best maintained room ever ...even ants and spiders found the room very very enticing...it was room full of wonders...and its main inhabitant was as wonderful as his room ....his laziness was a constant source of inspiration for all of us mere mortals in the wing. Never mind that .....he was quite famous for the sms and calls he kept on receiving from his bundi ...now thats what u call a true stud ....jisko bandi phone karke pataye :)
the evil genius devil incarnate nishant ...however he always claimed he was the opposite ..he always tht he was the nicest guy ...but he never missed an oppurtunity to add his comment when something happened to someone ..... doesnt mattered if some one was with his bandi ...if he had to comment he will .... and that was the fun of being with him.
Deep .....*&&**& isko gaali dete dete koi nehin thakega....sharp in wit and tongue...but u wont ever be bored when u hear such crisp comments .and his trips to aus was filled with wonder ..his achievements were always source of inspiration for all of the mere mortal in our wing.
The sports man of the wing and the muscle man of the wing thakur i always saw him with his headphones laughing away at Friends episodes....later i came to know we had similar interest when it came to watching naruto :)...
And then Indraneel ..the5th weirdo..u cud always find him watching some series , playing aoe , not going /or going late to class...and especially during the end of final sem writing dvds :)....He was the thinker of the wing along with kundan and was so amazingly up to date about all the puzzles and algos....
And then as every one aptly says the juice of the wing ....the man who played a 1000 games :) the man who worked most hard on his projects ...the man who gave new defintions to arguments .Puskal singh .the player of the wing and it was thorougly enjoyable to play WOW wit him and kundan.
My apologies to kundan coz i just said prasoon was the most lazy in our wing.basically kundan defined two things - laziness and the true way to eat ...his gastronomic capalities has somewhat declined of late but yet he remains a formidable force when it comes to food...in fact the whole wing were like wolves when it came to food.But remakably his intelligence was directly proportional to his laziness which was proportional to his belly size. I hope he has already bought butterflies for his bellies( if u dont get this ask kundu).
admin no other introduction required.never banned or muted in dc for my final year ....coz i was admin's wingie....either by wing effect or his own nature he was as nonchalant and lazy as every one else...u cud see him spending infinite time on his compu never coming out unless he dislocated his shoulder.
gaay bapre daaru peeke koi agar truely sento kisiko dekha to yeh gaay hai...cenrtainly he had his own style and dunno who he kept chatting to all the time....
and vajpayee ji ..... didnt have many frequent chats wit him....more so abt the weather and all ...but how cud someone escape the wing effect :) ....he was as dedicated to class and all like the rest of us

4 years of CS
The first blog .
I meandered through several topics which could fill up my first blog. Ultimately i zeroed on this one ... something that along with my great friends kept me alive in kgp.
Indeed from the time of 2nd to final the period where i learnt the game , understood it and along with it knew and understood half the kgp junta who in some time or other tried their hand in this game some blazed on , some fizzled out .The game itself was a magical thing something entirely different from the remarkably dull world of kgp.It gave me thrill and excitement more so because i played it along with some wonderful people.
Mentioning names would make a long list but veeru , rose , carnal , mutthi , jj , jag , rohit , bhim were some wonderful players and wonderful persons.
I specifically left out my clan mates from this list coz the word clan holds a special meaning to me when it comes to cs.Clan matches playing for a goal was the best thing about cs along with the aspiration to excel in it.And along with it i came to know some of my great friends tkb , dip , tapas , pc , jhun and suv people with whom i had the honor of playing along side and enjoy the game to the fullest.
And that hopefully is a fitting goodbye to the best First person shootout game i ever played and the joint best game i ever played(along with WOW ie) . But the same passion will burn within me always hopefully
